Training on Regulating LNG Projects
On July 23, the GPDP 2 held its second online LNG training with the theme “Regulating LNG Projects”. The training broadened the participants’ understanding of LNG regulatory frameworks, particularly in compliance with health, safety, security and environmental requirements; offshore LNG regulations including managing technology standards, marine space and operational risks, and marine transportation recovery unit; and onshore LNG import terminal technologies and trucking safety regulations.
Over 60 participants coming from various government agencies were in attendance including representatives from Department of Energy, Department of Interior and Local Government—Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Labor and Employment—Bureau of Working Conditions and Quezon Provincial Office, Maritime Industry Authority, Batangas City Engineers Office, and Senate Committee on Energy.
Among the resource speakers are Mr. Andrew Kohout of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; Mr. Thach Nguyen and Ms. Lindsey Constantino from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation; and Commander Nicolette Vaughan, Lieutenant Commander William Hickey, and Mr. Joseph Brown of the U.S. Coast Guard.
The training was co-organized with the Philippine Department of Energy and the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The training was supported by the U.S. Department of State.
