GPDP 3 Concludes First Year of LNG Regulation Creation

5 Nov 24

On 5 November 2024, the Gas Policy Development Project 3 (GPDP 3) successfully wrapped up its first year during the Concluding Workshop for the Philippine Downstream Natural Gas Industry (PDNGI) Codes of Standard Practice, held at F1 Hotel Manila in BGC, Taguig. The event was also joined by representatives from the Department of Energy and JERA to review the progress and participate in the discussions on the drafting of GPDP’s three main regulatory codes: the LNG Storage and Regasification Code, the LNG Transmission and Distribution Code, and the Third Party Access Code.

The latest version of the standards incorporates feedback from the Mid-Year Monitoring and Third-Party Access Workshop held in June 2024, with the final version anticipated for completion by end of November 2024.

Engr. Carmelita Villanueva, Deputy Director for Technical of GPDP 3, delivered welcome remarks and recognized the achievements of the Regulation Creation team. Presentations by Dr. Rizalinda De Leon, GPDP 3 Project Director, and Atty. Ivan Mark Galura, GPDP 3 legal expert, provided an overview and plans for the way forward for each Code.

GPDP 3 has recently commenced its Year 2, sustaining momentum in its key components: regulatory development, research, capacity-building, and policy advisory.
